Dr Desmond Tutu opens the Riverside Wing of Lewisham Hospital
On 21st May Bridget welcomed Dr Desmond Tutu to Lewisham to officially open the Riverside Health Centre in Lewisham Hospital.
Less well known is Dr Tutu's connection with Lewisham - his family lived in Chinbrook Road in the 1970s and at weekends he acted as honorary curate at St Augustine's Church in Baring Road.
At the opening Bridget said, "The Riverside Health Centre is the most significant development in over 200 years of Lewisham Hospital - providing the most up to date facilities for the people of Lewisham and beyond, and I am particularly proud that the government's spending on the NHS is providing such excellent health care for my constituents."

Archbishop Tutu is enormously respected and admired throughout the World for his heroic work for peace and his
long and resolute non violent opposition to the apartheid regime in South Africa - receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984.
