Welcome to my regular column for my constituents: 5th June 2008
It's been a busy week already in Westminster but my main concerns are with events in Lewisham. As you may have read in the 'Out and About' section, I was at the Town Hall last week to encourage local people to claim all the benefits they are entitled to and to secure some advice on saving energy and money in the home. With gas and electricity bills going up across the world we need to look after the pennies with smart, energy saving measures. Some of the advice is simple common sense - we can all make sure we wash a full load in the washing machine - but some of the advice was more expert. If we upgrade to a condensing boiler we could all save upto a third on our heating bills, for example. In other news, my new Parliamentary report will be on your doorsteps soon. It's delivered by volunteers so it'll take us a few weeks to get around the constituency, but if you think you've missed out give my office a call and we can send you a copy. Bridget
