On 29th November 1998 I was very pleased to open the Heather Close Special Needs Centre - and this week I made a return visit to meet the staff and residents.                                        Heather Close is a 24 hour nursed care facility which provides long-term inpatient rehabilitation care for 34 adults with long standing mental health problems - in a very welcoming domestic environment. 

My visit coincided with their celebrations for Black History Month, including Salsa dancing, which I was very keen to learn.

The Service Manager, Bella Encabo, is an inspirational motivator and she very generously arranged for some of the residents to present me with gifts to mark my visit.  Bella and her team are doing a magnificent job and they have my warmest congratulations.
