Bridget Praises Planning Decision

Bridget Prentice MP has hailed the Council’s decision to reject the application by Big Yellow Self storage to build a warehouse on the corner of Baring Road and St Mildred’s Road.

At a Council Planning Committee on April 12th the application by Big Yellow was unanimously rejected.

Bridget said, “I attended this meeting and was delighted that this application has finally been turned down. This is as an important victory for local people and I would like to pay tribute to the large number of local residents and community groups who have worked incredibly hard over the last 5 years to stop this eyesore being inflicted on their community.

Bridget Prentice has always supported local residents in vigorously opposing any attempts by Big Yellow to build a storage warehouse on this site – and has consistently backed their demands that any development should improve rather than diminish the area.”

In October last year Bridget  backed a proposal by Mayor Steve Bullock for compulsory purchase of the site as an option to prevent Yellow Box making any more planning applications.
