Political Speed Dating | |
Bridget Prentice introduced "Political Speed Dating" at a recent Youth Conference in Westminster, which marks the climax of a year-long programme of events to bring young people into the democratic process, and encourage them to become politically engaged.
Rather then trying to find their perfect love match, the young people had 3 minutes of speed dating with leading Ministers, MPs and Councillors - who had the challenging task of persuading secondary school children and youth groups about the benefits of democratic engagement and participation. Bridget was enormously impressed by the enthusiasm of the young people that she met, "The youth of today are the decision makers of tomorrow. The politicians were truly under the spotlight about the political careers in front of one of the hardest audiences that they will ever have to face!" During the event Bridget spoke to Alex Sergent, from Catch21 - the country's first political internet channel based at Westminster run by young people for young people. You can see the interview on the "Videos" section of this website Catch21 can be seen at: www.catch21.co.uk
