Bridget Prentice has joined staff and patients at the University Hospital in Lewisham to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
The “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning” is a massive fundraising project where volunteers all over the country hold coffee mornings and donate the proceeds to Macmillan Cancer relief. Last year around 2 million people got together all around the UK and raised over £6.5 million for MacMillan. Paula Noble, a pharmacist at University Hospital, organised the event. Many of her friends baked cakes, local shops donated doughnuts and coffee, and for 2 hours staff and patients popped into the restaurant, drank coffee and bought the cakes and gave generously. Paula said, “This is the second year that I have run one of these, last year we made over £800, and I have also organised raffles for MacMillan which are always very well supported by the hospital staff” Bridget Prentice said: “Almost every family in Lewisham will have been touched by the tragedy of cancer, so it is marvellous to be able to support the work of such dedicated volunteers, whose help to victims and families at such a difficult time is so hugely appreciated”
